continuous worship 2007: final words

Date September 20, 2007

I’m back in St. Louis - yes it’s late but I’m on Seattle time - and I wanted to mention a couple of more things…

That ‘thing’ that I mentioned that Tim Smith shared with us on Sunday morning when I had the privilege through Joel and with B.J. to see ‘behind the curtain’ at the Mars Hill’s Ballard and Shoreline campuses, well, Tim dropped the news last night during the introduction of his talk.

Tooth & Nail is picking up Mars Hill’s new multi-band hymns album, The Rain City Hymnal, and distributing it across the country, including big boxes like Wal-Mart and Best Buy. Tooth & Nail is home to Anberlin, Thousand Foot Krutch, Underoath, to name a few.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that the Mars Hill worship scene will change the face of what we’ve known as modern worship music. I got to hear their bands first hand, including Tim’s new band, Ex Nihilo, Joel Brown’s band, Red Letter, and Brian Eckelberg’s band, E-Pop and they sounded ridiculous. As in amazing. As in way out of the Christian subculture. You will be blown away.

Also, I ran into one of my worship and blogging heroes, Randy Elrod, at the Continuous Worship conference. It was great to meet him in person and hear a little bit about the conference that he puts on called re:create. You can find out more info about that here.

shouldn’t you have called ex nihilo, red letter and epop “good,” rather than venturing into such superlatives as ridiculous and amazing?

(how long will that continuous worship inside joke last, i wonder?)
